The soft flickering of a candle flame can put anyone at ease. If you like the calming aromatherapy that scented candles provide but don't want to spend too much money on them, your best option is to make candles at home. This is super easy if you choose the right kind of candle.

The easiest candle to make is a water candle. You can make it in fewer than 5 steps without any worries.

You will need to fill the glass jar until it is nearly full. You should leave a bit of space at the top for the wick and the oil (around half an inch).

3. Make a Plastic Disk

Take the plastic sheet you have and cut out a disk with a pair of scissors.

Do make sure that the disk is the same size as the diameter of the glass jar.

Make a small hole in the center of the thin disk for the wick of the candle.

4. Add the Wick

Take the old candle and remove the wick from it. To remove the wick, you will need a flat head screwdriver. You can scrape away the wax and then lift out the wick carefully from its holder. It is delicate, so make sure that you are gentle when removing it.

Knot the wick at the middle mark (around an inch from the top). Next, put the wick through the hole in the plastic disk. Place the plastic disk with the wick in the jar on top of the water. This will ensure that water and oil are separated.

5. Add the Oil

Pour the cooking oil inside the jar. Do make sure that you do this slowly so that the oil doesn’t go under the plastic disk.

You can now light the candle!
